Our Pastor

Todd Woodson is a native of Danville, VA. He is the son Raleigh and Betty Woodson and has one
brother, Troy Woodson. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1986 and left home to
start his adventure in the US Army. He graduated from the US Military Academy Preparatory School in
1987 and gained acceptance to the US Military Academy at West Point the following year. He graduated
the US Military Academy in 1991 with a B.S. degree in Applied Mathematics. He was commissioned a 2nd
Lieutenant and selected to become a helicopter pilot. He graduated flight school rated in two different
helicopters and eventually qualified in a third aircraft. During his time in the Army he held several
leadership positions and completed assignments at Ft. Bragg, NC, Ft. Huachuca, AZ, Ft. Drum, NY, and
finally Ft. Sheridan, IL. He was decorated with several awards including two Meritorious Service Medals
and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Minister Woodson separated from the Army in 2000. He is currently the Vice President Project
Management Office (PMO) and Consumers Credit Union in Gurnee, IL. He previously held various
project and supply chain management at Zebra Technologies, Trustmark Insurance, Hollister Inc, and
Cardinal Health. He holds a Master of Project Management degree and is a Certified Project Manager
(PMP) and Prosci Change Management Practitioner.
Minister. Woodson was always active in church, even at an early age. He was baptized at the Mount
Carmel Baptist Church in Danville, VA at the age of nine. He served in the youth choir and usher ministry
under the leadership of the late Pastors Edward Yarbrough and James Stewart.
In 1999, he joined Greater Faith Church Baptist in Waukegan, IL under the leadership of Pastor C. L.
Fairchild and preached his first sermon in 2001. He served as the leader of the video ministry and the
Youth Pastor. In July of 2021, the Lord called him to be the pastor of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist
Church of Waukegan, IL. He humbly serves the members as the congregation continues to grow and
minister to the community.
He has preached at several churches on the North Shore over the years and enjoys every opportunity to
speak and preach. He is married to Yolanda Woodson and they have one son, Myles Woodson.
